Chances of getting into a Pharmacy school in california?

Chances of getting into a Pharmacy school in california?
I am currently a freshman in a Community College in the Sacramento area. I have called UCSF (University of California at San Francisco Pharmacy School) and USC(university of Southern California) and UOP(University of the Pacific) for their prerequisites for their Pharmacy Program. The prerequisites are pretty much the same for all of them. But one thing they did say was that about 90% of their accepted students have a Bachelors degree in Science. So i was wondering if i just complete the prerequisites at a community college and don't get my bachelors, what GPA would i have to maintain, to have a good chance at getting accepted to any Pharmacy School in California. remember i am talking without getting a Bachelors Degree. here is the list of all the pharmacy schools in California. University of Southern California School of Pharmacy , Los Angeles, CA California College for Health Sciences, CCHS , National City, CA Loma Linda University, School of Pharmacy , Loma Linda, CA Western University of Health Sciences, College of Pharmacy , Pomona, CA University of California-San Diego School of Pharmacy , San Diego, CA University of California-San Francisco School of Pharmacy , San Francisco, CA University of the Pacific, School of Pharmacy , Stockton, CA

You answered your own question. Only a 10% chance. With those odds I'd say you would have to have a very high GPA.

i just finished my first year of pharmacy school. wht is ur gpa? do you have to take the pcats? most schools would take ppl without a BS degree if they are outstanding. I had a 3.6 cumulative gpa and 3.4 science gpa and a cum 80 on my pcat. but i was probably the bottom tier. it is a 10% acceptance rate at the school i applied. I would say since you went to community college at least a 3.6 gpa but they take other things into account like pcat and interview. so a 3.6 doesnt mean you will get in it means you will be considered. =D try applying to an easier school like wyoming (they take anyone above 3.0 which is easy to get). it was very time consuming (say bye bye to life). Have you consider nursing? I took nursing pre-reqs as backup and it was so easy! i wish i did nursing because i am lazy and only want to study for max 6 hours for 1 exam it is not possible to do in pharmacy school about 3-4 exams every week 100 pages to read for each. and it is impossible to predict the questions they ask everything and anything.

In California, the chances of getting accepted into any pharmacy school without a bachelors is very low. At most of the CA schools, over 90% of the students have bachelors. I believe one of the schools in CA, requires science courses be taken at a 4 year institution. At my college, which is not in CA, taking all your prereq courses at a CC without a bachelors is the kiss of death. The chances of acceptance are under 1%. You should try the newest school which isn't fully accredited. It is in Sacramento. I believe it is called California North State or something like that.

chances are very low....unless ur GPA and ur interview are both outstanding. Now a days pharmacy school is already competitive enough and like they said almost eveyrone has a degree. California college for health sciences??? Never heard of it. You're missing touro university in vallejo, ca and if you're from sacramento there is a new pharamcy school opening up next year around rancho cordova.....i think it was called northern gate college of pharmacy. Either way i would recommend gettin ur degree to even have a shot at it.
