What is the average rush hour commute time from Oakley, CA to San Francisco?
I'm moving to California soon to go to school at the Academy of Art in SF. I'm doing some house hunting and just wanted to figure out a few things. Thanks.

Probably about 2 hours each way. Definitely not something you want to do if you can help it.

Based on some proprietary data that I have at work, I checked a route from Mountain Mike's Pizza (2091 Main St, Oakley, CA 94561 (925) 625-0770) to Academy of Art University (79 New Montgomery St, San Francisco, CA 94105 (415) 274-2200) to get the extent of a trip from Oakley to the Academy of Art. At 7:30 AM your travel time on the best route (CA-4 to CA -242 to I-680 to CA -24 to I-580 to I-80 to downtown) will be: 1 hour and 25 minutes on Monday; 1 hour and 30 minutes on Tuesday; 1 hour and 34 minutes on Wednesday; 1 hour and 31 minutes on Thursday; 1 hour and 20 minutes on Friday; 59 minutes on Saturday; and 58 minutes on Sunday. At 4:30 PM your travel time on the best route (reverse of above, except get off at Ygnacio Valley Road on I-680 and take that to CA-4) will be: 1 hour and 22 minutes on Monday; 1 hour and 28 minutes on Tuesday; 1 hour and 31 minutes on Wednesday; 1 hour and 32 minutes on Thursday; 1 hour and 26 minutes on Friday; 1 hour and 7 minutes on Saturday; and 1 hour and 4 minutes on Sunday. Of course, the travel times assume that there are not any crashes or incidents along your route – hard to know in advance when those will happen. To see what traffic is like from different areas where you want to live to the Academy of Art, you should check out the mapquest.com page and click on "traffic" at the top right of the webpage to see what conditions are like at the time(s) you want to go there and back. If you have an iPhone, INRIX (a leading traffic data company) makes it traffic data available for free on major roads throughout the country – more details at the 2nd link below. Good luck
and safe travels!
