extremely talented artists give oil painting lessons but i cant find any in my area - northern california.

Just go to your local art supply store and check the community board, they should have some private lessons on there.

Find a local drawing group, typically they will have one session out of the week with a "long" pose, and their will be painters there. Usually they are delighted to teach others. See the future: http://www.hallisystem.bravehost.com

I know of one in Oakland, but don't recall the name- because it changed names, last year. Type Art shools in California, into your browser, and see what comes up.
