Academy of Art University is a great school to go to for Photography. I studied it there and learned a lot! Since all of their instructors are industry experts, I was able to get a lot of valuable information, while preparing for success in life after college. Once I graduated, I landed a great job. Some of my friends who have graduated from there have also gone on to work for big-name companies. Dog grooming school in San Francisco Bay Area (East Bay to be more specific)?

Dog grooming school in San Francisco Bay Area (East Bay to be more specific)?
Looking for dog grooming school in the Bay Area? Not looking for online schools, or video courses. I need hands on and practical guide shown by the instructor. Am not looking for pet grooming, but to learn to be a stylist. I know there is the Madeline's Institute of Pet Grooming at Santa Clara, but they do not offer/conduct classes till next Fall '07. And there are other schools but in South California, around the LA area. would love to learn from a grooming school of the basics first and then advance all the way up step by step... but will start with the basics of professional pet groomer first then go to the next step of advanced learning. But currently looking for a grooming school with basic instruction first, not looking for a grooming school that offer advanced courses yet.

You need to learn all breed dog & cat grooming first as there are specific procedures and cuts for each breed. After you sucessfully learn/practice all breed grooming you can get creative or "stylist" whatever that means.

Places to live in California that are close to San Francisco?

Places to live in California that are close to San Francisco?
I'm moving with my 15 year old daughter to California. I need a city to work in, but I would like to live in a place that is clean, nice, and safe with good public and private high schools for my daughter. So the cities or town would have to be close to San Francisco, any recommendations?

Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Palo Alto, Novato, some parts of Vallejo.. Just avoid Richmond and Oakland.

Maybe you would want to take BART to work. The closest stops (excepting Oakland) would be Daly City and Berkeley. If you don't mind a longer ride, you have options such as Millbrae, Hayward, Fremont, Pleasanton, and Walnut Creek.

I suggest Marin county for the best public and private schools in the Bay Area. There are many towns in Marin county and some are only 20 minutes from San Francisco. It has the most to offer, clean air, maintained outdoor environment, green technology, farmers markets and organic markets, cafes, restaurants, tourist destinations, several religious and private schools, very safe living compared to every other county in the bay area. You can commute by ferry, bus, or car to San Francisco to work. San Francisco itself has good international, religious and private schools. Marin county has a well-educated, mostly liberal, high-income demigraphic.

I live in Santa Rosa and it's an hour away and it's kinda family friendly here, I've lived here all 16 years of my life. pretty safe for the most part, and education isn't bad either. besides that, Petaluma, and Napa, San Mateo, etc

San Mateo is good. Never too hot or cold and it has a bridge to east bay. The closer to SF you get the colder it gets, the further south or closer you get to San Jose the hotter is gets in the summer. The Cal-Train runs from SF to San Jose. And in East bay there's Bart. Oakland and Richmond is off limits, Berkeley is expensive. Stick to San Mateo.

Live IN San Francisco. You may never have a better opportunity than now. Because of the down real estate market, rents are cheaper in SF than they have been in years. A studio in the Marina district may cost you $1,200 per month, almost half of what it was 5 years ago. And once you are in, you are protected from high rent increases (rent control in SF).

Gotta go with Palo Alto area, I grew up there went to a great private high school, and it was a great place to grow up. Not too far from the city either.

If you are going to lease an apartment, you should move to this place. It is called Parkmerced. This apartment is very near the two best high schools in San Francisco. One is private school called Mercy High School. It is a girl only school. Another one is Lowell high school. I live at this area for 6 years and it is very safe and quiet. It is also near everything you need. There is a shopping mall, supermarket and a lot parks. Good luck!

If I fly an airplane from Toledo,Ohio to San Francisco, California will it still be light out when I arrive?

If I fly an airplane from Toledo,Ohio to San Francisco, California will it still be light out when I arrive?
If the time in Toledo,OH is 10:00pm (EDT) and the time in California is 7:00pm (PDT) will I arrive in California in the daylight? What I mean is that at 10:00pm (EDT) the sun is set in Toledo and it is completely dark out, but is the sun still out in San Francisco? Does the sun cross California after it crosses Ohio? I was just wondering because I did not pay much attention to this in school (6th grade).

The time of year matters. As winter approaches the sun will set earlier. If you are flying to San Francisco next week and arrive 7:00 PM PDT, it will still be daylight as the plane lands (but not for very much longer). It will be light as long as you leave early in the day from Ohio... Check the flight schedules..that will tell you. The sun sets from East to West so it sets in Ohio before California.

No it will be dark because you have about a 5 hour flight time at a minimum minus the three hour time difference. So that will put you in california at around midnight if your lucky. i learned this in 6th grade u will probably learn soon also make sure you pay attention in class its important

Would you consider the Academy of Art University in San Francisco a good school?
I am concidering looking in to that but I'm not even sure if its a well respected school or not If you don't think it is, what other schools in southern California that offer degrees in photography would be better?

They have high rankings. The overall reputation of SF Academy of Art University is really good. You could go out to some clubs and dance the night away and meet people there. You could get involved with some extra activities at your college and meet new people that way You could visit art museums and talk to people that are around and see what they think about the art pieces you're looking at You could try and find new people on craig's list (online can be dangerous though) You could try and find people on facebook or myspace that live in your area and meet up with them. You are right. The boys in SF already have boyfriends. You are out of luck. Try across the bay in Berkley or maybe Alameda.

Phil gave you some great suggestions. Most of the other homocentric answers can be safely ignored. Those folks don't know what they are talking about. You'll find lots of straight guys all over SF. Just like any other large city there are theaters, bars, concerts, clubs, art galleries, museums, malls and bookstores. Don't just look for a boyfriend, make friends! Your biggest single best option is people you know introducing you to their friends. The arts community in SF is very vibrant and you'll have little problem finding like minded people.

Is San Pedro( in Southern California) a smaller version of San Francisco(Northern California)?
I will be moving to San Francisco next week to attend school at USF. I have never been to San Fran but I have lived in LA( so I have visited San Pedro). I love the "PORT" look of San Pedro, the seafood, the relaxed feel, and the cooler weather..... Is San Fran like this?

SF is a different place than any other place in the whole US. San Pedro is still So Cal

No. SF is no longer a port city. Most of the port activity is in Oakland complete with the port look [cranes]. SF has great seafood and is always cooler than any inland area.
